AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS
ORDINANCE NO. 2025-1628
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS AMENDING THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES BY AMENDING AND REPEALING IN ITS ENTIRETY
CHAPTER 15 ARTICLE 15-10, CODE ADVISORY AND APPEALS, ARTICLE 15-
16, CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION, ARTICLE 15-17, INTERNATIONAL
EXISTING BUILDING CODE; AND PROVIDED FOR RESERVING SAID
ARTICLES FOR FUTURE USE; AND, AMENDING CHAPTER 15, OTHER
CODES, ARTICLE 15-9, COPPELL THOROUGHFARE PLAN, BY MOVING
SAID ARTICLE IN ITS ENTIRETY TO ARTICLE 15-16, COPPELL
THOROUGHFARE PLAN OF SAID CHAPTER; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY
NOT TO EXCEED TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000); PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING
A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to update its other codes and provide for a
reorganization of Chapter 15, and;
WHEREAS, a result of inclusion of and consolidation of previous other codes, certain
Articles need to be repealed and/or recodified,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppell, Texas is hereby
amended by repealing Chapter 15, Other Adopted Codes, Article 15-10, Code Advisory and
Appeals Board, Article 15-16, Contractor Registration, Article 15-17, International Existing
Building Code, in their entirety and reserving the same for future use to hereinafter read as
follows:

SECTION 2. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppell, Texas is hereby

amended by moving Chapter 15, Other Codes, Article 15-9 Coppell Thoroughfare Plan, in its
entirety to Article 15-16 Coppell Thoroughfare Plan, of said Chapter as previously adopted and
amended, to hereinafter read as follows:
“CHAPTER 15. OTHER CODES

Article 15-16 Coppell Thoroughfare Plan-Adopted.
Sec. 15-16-1. Coppell Thoroughfare Plan
That certain Ordinance 90489 and attachments thereto, a copy of which is on file
in the office of the city secretary, being marked and designated as “Coppell
Thoroughfare Plan,” is hereby designated as a special code of the City of Coppell,
Texas.
Sec. 15-16-2. Maintained as a separate code.
The Coppell Thoroughfare Plan Code of the City of Coppell adopted by Ordinance
90489 shall, because of its size, be maintained in the office of the city secretary as
a separate “special code” apart from this General Code.”
SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, phrase or work in
this ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid by
any court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas
hereby declares it would have enacted such remaining portions despite any such
invalidity.
SECTION 4. That the repeal of any ordinance or any portion thereof by the
preceding sections shall not affect or impair any act done or right vested or accrued or
any proceeding, suit or prosecution had or commenced in any cause before such repeal
shall take effect; but every such act done, or right vested or accrued, or proceedings, suit
or prosecution had or commenced shall remain in full force and effect to all intents or
purposes as if such ordinance or part thereof so repealed shall remain in force.
SECTION 5. That any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions
of this ordinance or the Code of Ordinances as amended hereby, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor an d upon conviction in the Municipal Court of th e C ity of Coppell , Texas ,
shall be subject to a fine not to excee d the s um of Two Thousand Dollars ($2 ,000 .00) for
each offense; and each and every day s uch offense is continued shall constitute a new and
se parate offense.
SECTION 6. That this ordinance shall become effective immediately from and
after its p assage and the publication of th e caption, as the law and charter in such cases
provide.
