AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER I0
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COPPELL BY ADDING A NEW
SECTION 10-1-2 EXTENDING THE PROVISIONS OF THE OUTDOOR SIGN REGULATIONS
OF THE CITY (CHAPTER 10 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
COPPELL) INTO THE CITY OF COPPELL'S EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION AS
DEFINED BY THE MUNICIPAL ANNEXATION ACT (ARTICLE 970a, VERNON'S TEXAS
CIVIL STATUTES; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. AMENDING CHAPTER 10 TO ADOPT NEW SECTION OF SIGN CODE
Chapter 10 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppell is hereby amended
adopting a new Section 10-1-2 which shah read as follows:
"Section 10-1-2 EXTENSION OF SIGN REGULATIONS INTO EXTRATERRITORIAL
JURISDICTION OF THE CITY
The City Council of the City of Coppell hereby extends the provisions
of its outdoor sign regulations (Chapter 10 of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Coppell, Texas, as the same may from time to time
be amended) and the enforcement of such regulations to include the
extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Coppell as defined by
the Municipal Annexation Act (Article 970a, Vernon's Texas Civil
Statutes).
For the purpose of such regulations, which are applicable to the
various zoning districts of the city, property within the
extraterritorial jurisdiction of the city shall be considered "Non-
Business" zoning districts. Provided, however, the City Council may
grant a variance to this provision under the procedure for granting
variances stated in Article 10-9 of this Code."
SECTION 2. REPEALING CLAUSE
All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, inconsistent or in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE
If any article, paragraph or subdivision, clause or provision of this ordinance
shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity
of this ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so
decided to be invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4. PENALTY CLAUSE
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a
penalty of fine not to exceed the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each ogfense,
and each and every day such offense is continued shall constitute a new and separate
offense.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after the publication of
its caption, as the law in such cases provides.
