ORDINANCE NO. 287A6
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 10-
8-6 OF CHAPTER 10 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COPPELL,
PROVIDING FOR TEMPORAI{Y REAL ESTATE DIRECTIONAL SIGNS; PROVIDING A
REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABLIITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR A
PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00)
FOR EACH OFFENSE AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. AMENDING SECTION 10=8-6 OF THE SIGN CODE
Chapter 10 (The Sign Code) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppell
is hereby amended by adding to Section 10-8-6 a new subsection "F" to read as follows:
"F. TEMPORARY REAL ESTATE DIRECTIONAL SIGNS. Real
estate agencies, builders or property owners shall be permitted
to erect three (3) off premise signs per subdivision that
advertise the location of an open house within the respective
subdivision. All such signs shall conform to the following
conditions:
1. They must be spaced at least fifty (50) feet apart
along a frontage road.
2. No sign shall contain more than four (4) square feet
in effective area.
3. The permit issued shall be valid for only seven (7) days.
4. The fee for a permit to erect or relocate the three
signs shall be ten dollars ($10.00)."
5. Each sign must say "Open House."
6. Each sign must have applicants name on it.
7. Each sign must be located at least 5 feet from the
edge of the roadway.
SECTION 2. REPEALING CLAUSE
All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, inconsistent or in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE
If any article, paragraph or subdivision, clause or porvision of this ordinance
shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity
of this ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so
decided to be invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4. PENALTY CLAUSE
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance
sshall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished be a
penalty of fine not to exceed the sum of Two Handred Dollars ($200.00) for each offense,
and each and every day such offense is continued shall constitute a new and separate
offense.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after the publication of
its caption, as the law in such cases provides.
