ORDINANCE NO. 319
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 9-7-
1 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, BY REQUIRING ALL
BUILDINGS CONSTRUCTED IN THE OFFICE, COMMERCIAL, RETAIL, TOWNCENTER
AND INDUSTRIAL ZONING DISTRICTS TO HAVE A ONE-HOUR FIRE RESISTIVE WALL
AND BY ALLOWING THE USE OF COPPER OR BAKED-ON ENAMEL FINISHES ON
METAL ROOF AWNINGS; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO EXCEED
THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE AND DECLARING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. AMENDING SECTION 9-7-1 OF THE CITY CODE
The City of Coppell Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by adding to Section 9-
7-1 of Chapter 9 the following new Subsections D and E:
"D. All buildings located within the o-office, r-retail, c-commercial, tc-
towncenter, li-light industrial, hi-heavy industrial zoning districts or
pd-plan development zoning districts allowing o-office, r-retail, c-
commercial, tc-towncenter, ti-light industrial, or hi-heavy industrial,
shall have exterior walls constructed to meet a one-hour fire resistive
rating. Stucco exterior wails shall not be allowed.
E. A mansard style roof shall be allowed on buildings constructed in
the above mentioned zoning districts, provided that:
1. No wood or composition roof covering is used; or
2. That if metal is used as a covering, it must be baked-on from
the factory or be exposed copper; and that
3. This style of roof shall be considered only as an awning or
be applied for decoration purposes only."
SECTION 3. REPEALING CLAUSE
All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, inconsistent or in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE
If any article, paragraph or subdivision, clause or provision of this ordinance
shah be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shah not affect the validity
of this ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so
decided to be invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 5. PENALTY CLAUSE
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance
shah be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a
penalty of fine not to exceed the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each offense,
and each and every day such offense is continued shah constitute a new and separate
offense.
SECTION 6. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shah take effect immediately from and after the publication of
its caption, as the law in such cases provides.
