OR 248 Choosing Dallas County Appraisal District ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 248 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, CHOOSING TO PARTICIPATE IN ONLY ONE APPRAISAL DISTRICT AND PROVIDING THAT DALLAS COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT SHALL BE THE APPRAISAL DISTRICT FOR THE APPRAISAL OF ALL PROPERTIES LYING WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, INCLUDING THAT PORTION OF THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY EXTENDING INTO ANY OTHER COUNTY; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Property Tax Code of the State of Texas has established an appraisal district in each county of the State which said appraisal district is to be responsible for appraising property within the district for ad valorem tax purposes of the State and of each taxing unit other than the county that imposes ad valorem taxes on property in the district; and WHEREAS, said Property Tax Code provides that when a taxing unit other than the county has boundaries extending into two or more counties, such taxing unit may choose to participate in only one of the appraisal districts and in such event the boundaries of the district chosen shall extend outside the county to the extent of the taxing unit's boundaries; and WHEREAS, the boundaries of the City of Coppell, Texas, may extend into two or more counties including Dallas County; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, to choose to participate in only one appraisal district, to wit: the Dallas County Appraisal District. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS: SECTION 1. SELECTION OF DALLAS COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT Pursuant to Sections 6.01 and 6.02 of subchapter A, Chapter 6 of the Property Tax Code of the State of Texas, the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, hereby chooses to participate in only one appraisal district as provided for in subsection (b) of said Section 6.02 and hereby designates and adopts Dallas County Appraisal District as the appraisal district in this State to be responsible for the appraisal of property within the corporate limits of the City of Coppell, including such areas within the boundaries of the City which extend outside the boundaries of Dallas County. SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE If any article, paragraph or subdivision, clause or provision of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so decided to be invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage as the law in such cases provides. DULY PASSED by the City Council of the City of.
