ORDINANCE NO. 2001-968
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 8-1-
3 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO ESTABLISH 40 MILES PER HOUR AS THE
MAXIMUM PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT FOR FREEPORT PARKWAY FROM ITS
POINT OF INTERSECTION WITH I.H. 635 TO ITS POINT OF INTERSECTION
WITH CREEKVIEW DRIVE AND TO ESTABLISH 30 MILES PER HOUR AS THE
MAXIMUM PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT FOR FREEPORT PARKWAY FROM ITS
POINT OF INTERSECTION WITH CREEKVIEW DRIVE TO ITS POINT OF
INTERSECTION WITH RUBY ROAD; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
PROVIDING A PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 8-1-3 Of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppell, Texas be
amended in part to establish the maximum prima facie speed limit for the following street to read as
follows:

SECTION 2. That the traffic engineer is authorized and directed to erect signs necessary to
give notice of the speed limit adopted herein.
SECTION 3. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, inconsistent or in conflict with
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
ECTION 4. An offense committed before the effective date of this ordinance is governed
by prior law and the provisions of the Code of Ordinances, as amended, in effect when the offense
was committed and the former law is continued in effect for this purpose.
SECTION 5. If any article, paragraph or subdivision, clause or provision of this ordinance
shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this
ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so decided to be invalid or
unconstitutional.
SECTION 6. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this
ordinance or of the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and,
upon conviction by the Municipal Court of Coppell, Texas shall be punished by a penalty of fine
not to exceed the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each offense; and each and every day
such offense is continued shall constitute a new and separate offense.
SECTION 7. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after the publication
of its caption, as the law in such cases provides and after official traffic control devices have been
erected giving notice of the speed limit established herein.
DULY PASSED by the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, this the 9th day of
October, 2001.
