MINUTES OF MEETING
August 20, 2001

Members Present:Greg Garcia, Dustina Weiland, David Herring, Stephen Hafer, and Margaret
Bryan.
Staff Present:Clay Phillips, Gary Sims, Brad Reid, John Elias, Jane Anne Sellars, and Hilda
Salazar.
Item 1:Call the meeting to order
Mr. Stephen Hafer called the meeting to order @ 6:37 p.m.
Item 2:Citizen’s Forum. Citizens should complete a Citizens Appearance Form. Pursuant to the State
Open Meetings law, the Corporation is restricted in discussing or taking action on items not posted
on the Agenda. Action on your statement can only be taken at future meetings.
No citizens present.
Item 3:Consider approval of the minutes from the March 19, 2001 meeting.
Mr. Greg Garcia, moved to approve the minutes from May 21, 2001.
Mr. David Herring, seconded the motion.
Vote: (4 – 0), approved.
Item 4:Update on the Status of Current Construction Projects.

Wagon Wheel
- Still working on concession stand details
- Contractor will be finishing by the end of the month.

Trails at Andrew Brown East
- Bridge has been installed
- Retaining wall to be install
- 2 weeks approx. project to be finish
- U-10 fields meet the North Texas Soccer Standards.
- All U-10 teams will be playing at Wagon Wheel next year.
- Soccer will have 22 fields. Total.
Item 5:Discussion of Potential Future Projects for Consideration of Funding through CRDC.
Mr. Brad Reid reminded the Corporation about information provided before in regards to possible
Trail connectors needed at Wagon Wheel (e.j: fence, entry feature, etc.)

DENTON CREEK TRAIL, PHASE ONE

Section 4: (PARK BOND)
Trail at The Vistas, north of Denton Creek to finish the section from MacArthur Blvd. to Denton
Tap Road.
Trail length = 2,900 l.f. of 12’ wide concrete, one bridge.
Estimated cost: $245,000
Section 5: (PARK BOND)
Trail at Andrew Brown Park East north of the softball complex. This trail will connect the
existing trail at pond making a more direct access to Denton Tap Road and Andrew Brown Park
West.
Trail length = 1,200 l.f. of 12’ wide concrete.
Estimated cost: $72,000
Section 6: (PARK BOND)
Trail at Andrew Brown West, along the Denton Creek. This trail will connect the new underpass
at Denton Creek to the Copperstone section of trail to the west.
Trail length = 2,200 l.f. of 12’ wide concrete
Estimated cost: $135,000
Total Estimated Cost for Sections to be Funder by Park Bond$452,000
Section 2: (CRDC)
Trail at Andrew Brown East, at Lake Park Addition. This trail will encircle the northern portion
of the eastern pond and connect the existing trail with Glen Lakes Drive.
Trail length = 2,900 l.f. of 10’ wide concrete

Wagon Wheel East/West Connector (CRDC)
Trail connecting the ballfields on the east side of the park with the pony field across the
Cottonwood Creek. This section will include a bridge or water crossing.

*Estimated Cost for CRDC Funded Trail Sections$1,395,000

These Trail Sections have yet to be designed and the cost of construction could vary significantly from
that shown. These estimates are based on per square foot of trail price of $5.00, installed. This
number is subject to fluctuations due to the volatility in construction costs.
*Another project at Wagon Wheel, not having access from fields closer to State Road to fields at
North Point; it’s also a safety issue because its isolated. Staff is proposing a bridge installation to
go across fields; this is one of the considerations.
*Mr. Reid also informed the Corporation of a possible funding for the Tennis Center Parking Lot,
Restroom and Playground; staff will bring proposal and estimated cost.
*The second slide for the outdoor pool its another project that staff will bring on for possible
funding. Staff will bring estimated cost and a list of projects for Corporation to prioritize future
projects.
*Recreation needs assessment survey it’s another project. Ray Turco and Associates did last survey
six years ago.
