Minutes of September 20, 2001
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Committee met on September 20, 2001 at 7pm in the Second Floor
Lobby Conference Room at Town Center, 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell, Texas. The
following members were present; Diana Sircar, Chairperson, Jeannie Farrier, Co-chairperson,
Julia Petty, Thomas Guidry, Jr, Pat Lambert, and Amanda Vanhoozier, City of Coppell, liaison.
Not Present: Barbara Piels and Scott Braugh.
Item one: Call to Order - Jeannie Ferrier called the meeting to order.
Item two: Approval of Minutes from August 16, 2001- Minutes were approved.
Item three: Citizen's Forum - No citizens were present
Item four: Adopt-a-Location Status and Approval of New Groups - The committee
approved the City of Coppell Park Board to pick-up State and Ruby Road.
Item five: Evaluation of Yearly Work Plan and Recommendations for 01-02 -The
committee reviewed the completion of the yearly work plan. All tasks and projects were
completed except for the Multi-Family Housing recycling. The committee will discuss
and approve the 01-02 yearly work plan in November.
Item six Approval of KCB Brochure- Tabled until a later date. The committee
discussed waiting for the new appointees to give their input on this agenda item.
Item seven: Discussion of Community Action Subcommittee Membership Drive-
The committee discussed personal contact with schools, city departments, AAL groups.
Amanda will bring a list of contacts for the October meeting. The committee made a
motion and approved the subcommittee meeting be postponed to February to give them
enough time before the next event, Clean Coppell in April.
Item eight: Discussion of Beautification Project; Wildflowers at the Trailhead-
Amanda presented the pertinent information on the trail dedication and wildflower
seeding on October 13th, 9am. KCB committee members were asked to be present.
Item nine: Discussion of Texas Recycles Day, November 10th, 10am-noon- The
committee discussed and approved the Texas Recycles Day event be changed to
November 3rd, 9:30am-1:30pm to piggy back on Old Town Coppell Days. KCB will get
a booth for a display to give out bins, literature, new brochures, and drop off for batteries,
plastic bags, and eye glasses. Amanda will check with the Park's Department about a tree
trimming drop-off at Canner Crowley Park. The committee will sign up to man the booth
that day.
Item ten: Set tour date for DFW Landfill- Amanda informed the committee that the
hours for tours at the landfill are weekdays between 8am-4pm. The committee will wait
and work out a time with the new committee.
Item Eleven: Presentation of End of Term Appreciation- Diana Sircar was presented
with a certificate of appreciation as chair of the committee, organizer of the AAL and
brochure work during her term. Barbara Piels and Scott Braugh were not present to
receive their certificates. They will be mailed.
Item Twelve: New Business to be placed on next meeting's agenda- 01-02 Yearly
Work Plan, KCB Brochure, Community Action Subcommittee Membership Drive, Texas
Recycles Day.
