OR 146 Authorizes General Telephone Co. of the SW to place into effect 4/10/75 new rates schedule for extended area AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS
ORDINANCE NO. 146
WHEREAS, application has been made for relief from
this condition by an adjustment of its rates for extended area
service; and
WHEREAS, the General Telephone Company of the Southwest
presented information indicating that present revenues at
Coppell are not adequate, and;
WHEREAS, under the conditions, said proposed schedule
of rates appears to the City Council to be reasonable and just,
and necessary to insure continued expansion and improvement of
telephone service in Coppell; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the right of
the General Telephone Company of the Southwest to earn a fair
return on the fair value of its property devoted to the rendition
of extended area telephone service to the customers of Coppell.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That General Telephone Company of the
Southwest is hereby authorized to place into effect within the
corporate limits of the City of Coppell, on April 10, 1975, the
following schedule of rates for extended area telephone service
provided within its base rate area, the rates contained in its
Lewisville Local Exchange Tariff for extended area telephone
service provided outside its base rate area, and such other
charges and rates for services listed in its Texas General
Exchange Tariff, as from time to time added to, deleted from,
or in any manner changed.

***This would apply in addition to the existing $0.35 per
station charge.
SECTION 2. That General Telephone Company of the
Southwest will change any customer within the corporate limits
of Coppell from residence one-party to residence two-party
service without a change charge for a period of sixty (60)
days from the effective billing date of this ordinance. General
Telephone further will change any customer from Dallas-Fort
Worth Extended Metro Service to Dallas Metro Service without a
change charge for a period of sixty (60) days from the effective
billing date of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. That General Telephone Company will
adjust the billing for any residence customer in the corporate
limits of Coppell who elects to downgrade his service, if such
election is made by May 7, 1975. The customers' bill, in this
instance, will be adjusted to the rates effective April 10,
1975.
SECTION 4. General Telephone Company will adjust
the billing of all customers within the corporate limits of
Coppell, retroactive to April 10, 1975, to correspond to any
more favorable schedule of rates which may be adopted by any
other city within the Lewisville Exchange, which said schedule
of rates are the result of an agreed settlement between General
Telephone Company and the adopting city, or which schedule of
rates are placed into effect directly or indirectly by reason
of any court or other judicial proceeding. It is the intent
of both the City of Coppell and General Telephone Company to
limit the provision of this paragraph to the series of rate
requests, which are presently pending before the cities of
the Lewisville Exchange.
SECTION 5. The ordinance adopted October 9, 1973,
and any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. That nothing in this ordinance contained
shall be construed in any manner, now or hereafter, as limiting,
enlarging or otherwise modifying the statutory right and power of
the City Council to lawfully regulate the rates charged by the
General Telephone Company of the Southwest for its service within
the City of Coppell, Texas.
