ORDINANCE NO. 101A1
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING
THE CITY OF COPPELL "ELECTRICAL CODE," AS ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE
NO. 101, BY DELETING PAGES 198 AND 199 DEALING WITH "PERMIT FEES"
AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR NEW PAGES 198, 198A, 198B AND 199, SO
AS TO ADOPT A NEW SCHEDULE OF PERMIT FEES FOR THE ISSUANCE OF
ELECTRICAL PERMITS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Electrical Code of the City
of Coppell, Texas, adopted by Ordinance No. 101, be, and the
same is hereby amended by deleting said Pages 198 and 199 of
said adopted Code and substituting therefor the following
Pages 198, 198A, 198B and 199:

.permit shall not be taken as permission to violate any of ~he require*
ments of this article.
The applicant for a permit shall represent that the statements con-
tained in such appli?ation are true and correct and any misrepresenta-
tlon or false statement thereon shall be grounds for revocation of the'
applicant's certificate of registration and cancellation of the permit
fzst~ed, Thc work indicated on the application shnll be performed only by
the applicant and no other person shall perform any of the electrical
work shown on the application. (Ord. 10515, § 2.)
.Sec.' 15-127. Records to be kept, ..
The chief electrical inspector shall keep complete records of all per-
mits issued and inspections made and other official work performed
oncler the requirements o£ this article. (Ord. 10515, § 2.)
Sec. 15-128. Fees.
~-ach applicant for a permit shall make a sworn
statemont setting forth the approximate building
area in square feet in the case of new construc-
tion or the total market value of the proposed
work including equipment, devices, materials,
ate,, which will be incorporated in the project
~ the case of remodeling, additions, and alter-
ations, including' swimming pools, fences, etc.
For new construction the permit fee shall be
based on building area. For remodeling, additions,
~d alterations, including swimming pools, fences,
etc., the permit fee shall be based upon dollar
value of the proposed work. For fee calculation
purposes, the building area includes:
(A) Total floor under the roof of all stories
(excluding garages, porches, and patios) ,
(B) One-half of the garages, porches, patios,
and ground-covered area.
The sum of the above areas constitute the building
area for permit fee determination and is to be
a~ated on thu permit application.
The fees for such permits shall be based on the
fO~owing schedule:

All fees shall be due'when the building and electrical permits are
issued. At, the end of each calendar month the chief electrical inspector
shall render a statement for the building and electrical permits and
inspection tees to the person owing same, and such char~es shall be paid
%o the city not later than the fifteenth day of the succeeding month.
.Failure %o pay such charges as herein provided shall forfeit, the ri~-hts of
eueh person to obtain other permits or otherwise enffa~e in the installa-
tion, repair or maintenance of electrical conductors or equipment until
such charges are paid. (Ord. 10515, § 2.)
Sec. 15~J29. Exp~ratlon.
Each specific permit issued by the chief electrical inspector under the
provisions of this division shall expire by limitation and become null and
void if the work authorized by such permit has not been started within
six months from the date of the issuance of such permit, or if the ,york
authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time for a
period of six months after the work is started. Before such work can be
~,tarted again, a new permit shall be obtained. (Ord: 10515, §
Sec. 15-130. Improper issuance and use.
It shall be unlawful for any person to install, alter or repair any
electrical conductors or equipment by authority of a permit isgued to
and for the use of some other person. It shall be unlawful for any per-
son to secure or furnish a permit for the installation, alteration or
a'~pair 2f electrical.conductors ~,' equipme,,~ to any person not entitled to
ouch permit under the provisions of this article. (Ord. 10515, § 2.)
Sec. ~-1~1. Commencing of work without obtaining permit,
]n ease any work for which a permit is required by this article is
staffed or proceeded with prior to the obtaining of such permit, the fee
a.s pro¢ided in section 15-125 shall be doubled. The payment of such
doubled fee shall not relieve any person frmn fully complying with the
requirement~ of this article in tho execution of the work nor from otlxer
penalties, prescribed herein. The chief electrical inspector is empowered

SECTION 2. The necessity for the above amendment to
protect the public interest, creates an urgency and an emergency
for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare,
and requires that this Ordinance shall take effect on the /~

Ordinance No. 14921~ amending the City of Dallas Electrical Code was
passed by the City Council on June 23, 1975. This ordinance adopts
the 1975 edition of the National Electrical Code as the standard for
electrical installations to be effective on July 1, 1975.
Inst~!llations for which constructio~ will ¢o~nce after thc above
date shall be installed to comply with the requirements of the 1975
National Electrical Code.

680-6(b) and 680-20(a) and 800-3(c&d) ).
Ground fault protectio~ on all 120 volt, single phase 15 and 20 ampere
.receptacles which are not part of the permanent wiring of the building
or structure, will be enforced at construction sites.
The D3]l.~s Electrical Code will be printed and low sale in approximately
30 days.
~nen submitting electrical plans for review, it ~ill be necessary that
this office be supplied with the short circuit current available at
e~ther the transformer terminals or at the service equipment.
