SS9701-CS 9309201293 September 20, 1993 Mr. Steve Goram Department of Public Works city of Coppell P. O. Box 478 Coppell TX 75019 Dear Mr. Goram: Help! One of the reasons we moved to Coppell was to avoid the impersonal nature of big cities. At Tuesday night's council meeting, we heard about the personal nature of life in Coppell. Help! It's been over a month since I faxed the attached letter to City Hall addressed to the Mayor and City Council. To date I have yet to receive a response from any public official in Coppell. I don't live or pay taxes in Kenko. I didn't hire Kenko, and I have not enjoyed having Kenko employees spend the summer in my back yard. Mr. Frettinger came to my house, saying he was sorry the project has taken so long, but he couldn't tell me what to do about my pool, or the future security of my lot. Basically he came to placate me with no promises and no solutions. What was the point? The stone wall along Beltline Road on the side of my property is falling down. My pool plaster is stained from the pounds of dirt created by contractor vehicles. Our summer has been ruined. People walk and ride and drive through my back yard thinking they're in a park. My yard is likely to fall into the creek with the first heavy rain, and I can't get any answers from my city officials. Could I please have a reply? I'm a reasonable man, and so far I've been very patient with everything that has befallen me, but patience has its limits. The city needs to protect my property from falling into Grapevine Creek. The city needs to restore my pool to its original form (before the sewer project loaded it with dirt), and I'd llke to know what the plan is for maintaining the city property behind my house (weed abatement and mosquito control), and preventing sightseers from trespassing on private property. I can't build a fence or let my dogs run. We've been trapped! We have already suffered financially because of the sewer project. Our builder has withdrawn his interest in the lots next to our house because of construction delays so we live next door to a weed patch. We attempted to re-finance and were rejected because the bank appraiser felt that the value of our property had suffered because of the "highway', constructed behind our house. We have no privacy, the security of our home is constantly in question, and we're tired of looking out our family room at mounds of dirt, clouds of dust and construction equipment. If we can't resolve this situation, I will have no choice but to pursue a costly legal solution. I have never before considered suing the city where I live. I have always questioned the loyalty of people who bring suit against municipalities, but this is ridiculous. Please let's keep this problem from getting worse. Please don't send the contractor to my home. He doesn't live in Coppell, and he has no real concern for our well being. Thank you for giving this matter the personal concern it requires. Sincerely, . Charlle S~ 776 Crestview Circle Coppell TX 75019
