CITY TO HOST PUBLIC MEETING FOR COPPELL ROAD PROJECT
The city of Coppell Engineering Department will host a public meeting on Tuesday, April 15,
2008, to present the reconstruction plans for Coppell Road from Cooper Lane to Sandy Lake.
The meeting will be held at Wilson Elementary, 200 S. Coppell Road, beginning at 7 p.m.
Because of construction, traffic patterns will be altered. Beginning south of Cooper Lane
and extending to Sandy Lake, the road will be limited to one-way traffic in the northbound
direction only for the duration of the reconstruction. Anticipated start date for construction is
June 9, 2008 and is expected to last 12 months.
Plans for reconstruction include the removing the existing 24-foot wide roadway and
replacing it with a 34-foot wide concrete street with curbs and improved drainage. The “barrow
ditches” along the side of the road will be filled in and sidewalks will be constructed the entire
length of the project. The sidewalk along the east side of the road will be four-feet wide while
the sidewalk on the west side of the roadway will be eight-feet in width.
Detour routes will be provided. City staff will be available at the meeting to answer
questions.
