Keith,
The attached .pdf shows the Southwestern Blvd. proposed bridge abutment shaft and the 24"
water to be very close to one another. The 24" is shown based on record information from the
City and field surveyed valve locations. The pdf is not to scale, but there is less than 1' of
clearance between the two. It may be possible to modify the abutment to avoid the water
main, but we will need to know the exact horizontal location of the pipe. The alternative would
be to relocate a portion of the 24" water main in Southwestern to eliminate the conflict with the
proposed bridge abutment.
can, with your approval, have our SUE group perform the locate. We do not have a budget in
the contract for this type of work, and I've received an estimate of $2,000 max to locate the
water main. The maximum fee is based on needing to use the vac truck due to the
excessive depth (15 ft) at this location.
