7 ft is pretty tight for any tree, it would depend on how tall the fence or wall is. If the fence is a typical 6' fence any of the
oaks or elms would work, assuming there's no sidewalk. If there's a sidewalk I wouldn't plant anything. If the fence or
wall is 8', I would recommend an ornamental tree such as crape myrtle or Yaupon Holly tree.

On some locations we have about 7 ft. of space in between the road and the fence and/or retaining wall. What type of tree would
be good to replant in that space? Are there trees with roots that extend more so downward instead of outward?
