We are writing in regards to the planned construction project on DeForest Road, east of MacArthur. For
the past 6.5 years, we have lived at 842 Cheshire Drive, which backs up directly to the south side of
DeForest Road.
While we are happy to hear about the reconstruction and improvement on DeForest Road, we are
unhappy that the proposed project does not include a sidewalk on the south side of DeForest.
We see this as a safety issue as the current traffic on DeForest is heavy, and often, in excess of the
speed limits. We only see these problems increasing after the improvements are completed. Because of
the trafficlspeed problem, we only use Deforest for walking about once a week but never for biking. There
are a lot of walkers, bikers and dog walkers on DeForest and it's amazing no one has been hurt over the
years as the vechicular traffic has increased. To safely get to the city park access on the west end of
DeForest, we must either go completely out of our way through Raintree if we bike or walk, or drive using
DeForest.
Because our home has the garage and alley in the back on DeForest, it is our main mean of
ingress/egress from our home. We have heared about DeForest improvements since we moved in, and
believe that it should be done properly. In our opinion, this includes a sidewalk on the south side of
DeForest for the convenience and safety of the large number of residents on this side of the street.
