Dear Steve:
The "estimated" average maintenance cost of the existing D/FW water
main is less than $10,000 per year. Routine maintenance includes
the following costs on an annual basis:
1. Air valves
2. Gate valves
3. Cathodic protection
Every 5 years, an additional $50,000 to $100,000 must be spent for
maintenance of anode beds and= cathodic protection system.
Maintenance cost without the cathodic protection is approximately
$4,000 per year.
In addition to the above "estimated" average, costs for repainting
the river crossing structure occur every 20 years; however, an
estimated cost for this work is not available.
I hope these "estimated" averages provide some assistance in your
discussion involving O&M for the proposed water line from the Elm
Fork Water Treatment Plant to the Hackberry Metering Station.
If you have any questions, please call me at 670-5886.
Sincerely,
Manager
