Hello John,
I think I may have asked you this question before.... Forgive me if I have...
What is the history/theory on the decel lane requirements that is in the City of Lewisville's ordinance.
"Right turn/deceleration lanes shall be provided on all approaches to intersections of four or six
lane streets, and to approaches where a two lane collector street intersects a four or six lane street (as
shown on the City's current Thoroughfare Plan). Right turn/deceleration lanes shall also be provided
at driveways to all commercial developments of five (5) acres or more. When multiple entries from
different streets are proposed for a commercial development of five acres or more, and based on the
projected traffic patterns of the site, staff may waive this requirement at one or more driveways...."
