Manara-CS090405Marcie, Thanks again for meeting with us today. We are very close to arriving at the final product and want to make the final stages as smooth as possible. I just want to confirm with you the information that you are still wanting from us. We just want to make sure that we are all on the same page and answer any questions that are still in question. We really are working hard to make the P & Z meeting next week a success and move forward to the City Council in May. Here are the outstanding issues that you will have requested. There are a couple of documents that will be provided to you by tomorrow afternoon: 1. Create an analysis of how many families we expect to attend Manara Academy. Provide a number. • We will have 175 families attending Manara Academy. The break-down the number of families based on their home city location: Arlington 8 Carrollton 5 Coppell 22 Dallas 7 Euless 13 Flower Mound 4 Fort Worth 2 Grand Prairie 1 Grapevine 3 Hurst 1 Irving 102 Lewisville 7 Total # Families 175 2. Determine the volume of cars that travel on Heartz within a 24 hour period. • The tubes went up tonight and you will have an analysis of this by Thursday morning. 3. Determine the number of cars that we expect at arrival and dismissal times. Total # Families 175 # of Families Needing Buses (based on 80 students 48 needing bus and 60% of these having siblings) Total # of Cars each day 127 4. Determine how many students we expect to use the bus system. # of Families Needing Buses (based on 80 students 48 needing bus and 60% of these having siblings) 5. Determine the number of students who will use our After-School program. • At this time, it is hard to determine an actual number until the school year arrives and we begin offering multiple programs. I would say roughly 40-50 students will utilize the after school program. From our surveys that we conducted at the last town hall meeting we had 30 surveys respond they would be interested. We did not ask this question at the first town hall meeting and do plan on asking this again at our town hall meeting this weekend. 6. Determine the staggering time for bus arrival and dismissal times so that it does not interfere with cars. • Manara Academy will utilize 330' buses to transport students. We will have the buses arrive at staggered times to allow the students to get off the buses and the bus to move prior to the cars arriving. The stagger times will be: 1. 7:20 am Bus # 1 2. 7:30 a~n Bus #2 3. 7:40 am Bus #3 • For dismissal, we will still use 3-30' buses to transport students. All of the buses will arrive at the same time after the cars have vacated the parking lot. 1. On Monday-Thursday: Bus #1, Bus #2, and Bus #3 will arrive at 3:50 pm for dismissal of the bus students. 2. On Fridays: Bus #1, Bus #2, and Bus #3 will arrive at 1:20 pm for dismissal of the bus students. 7. Create the personnel plan that will be used for arrival and dismissal times. • Manara will utilize numerous staff members to ensure the proper flow of traffic. We will have one staff member stationed at the following locations: 1. At the Northern most entrance on Heartz (Car's entrance location) 2. At the London Way gate that is located in the back of our parking lot 3. At the side door in the back where parents will enter who have parked their cars in the parking lot. This person will ensure that traffic continues to move and students do not vacate cars from the carpool lane. 4. At the next curve (1 ~' radius) to begin putting cars into 2 lanes to enter the front of the school. 'I'bis person will also hold up traffic until all cars in the front of the building have exited all of the children (to ensure the safety of the children). 5. At the exit which is the Southern most entrance on Heartz. This person will also hold up tral~lic until all cars in the front of the building have exited all of the children (to ensure the safety of the children). • We will have 2 staff members located in front of the building to help students exit cars and enter the building. Redo the car and bus routes through our parking lot and label the staff parking spaces. • Sadak will be submitting to you tomorrow and this part of the traffic circulation plan. 9. Provide all information electronically. • Sadak will be submitting to you tomorrow. 10. We spoke with our transportation engineer, Scot A. Johnson of Kimley-Horn & Associates, to see if he could calculate the number of cars that would fit into our queue line. His response: • You have 1000' of queue distance that is 40-50 vehicles depending on how tightly they pack. See attachment. A pickup truck or Suburban is about 18' long, we use 20' or 25' for each vehicle depending on the vehicle mix and how hard the drivers try to get close. Am I missing any points? If so, please do not hesitate to email me or call and we will get you the information. As I stated, we are here to help you in any way that we can. We just need a bit of guidance from you on what you actually need. Thanks again, Michelle Alkhatib
