On the above dates, representatives of SAM Engineering & Testing, L. P. performed the following testing & inspection
services:
1. Performed a lime series test on a bulk soil sample obtained from: (A) Northwest firelane consisting of dark & light brown
mottled gray silty CLAY with some calcerous deposits & limestone nodules. (B). Southeast firelane consisting of reddish
yellowish brown mottled gray silty CLAY with trace of calcerous deposits & limestone nodules.
The following results were obtained:
(A) .Initial: LL = 46 ; PI = 25 ;USCS = CL-CH (B) .Initial: LL = 54 ; PI = 32 ;USCS = CH
. +2% Lime: I_L = 47 ; PI = 19 ;USCS = ML-MH +2% Lime: LL = 54 ; PI = 22 ;USCS = MH
. +4% Lime: LL = 47 ; PI = 13 ;USCS = ML +4% Lime: LL = 54 ; PI = 17 ;USCS = MH
. +6% Lime: LL = 45 ; PI = 9 ;USCS = ML +6% Lime: LL = 53 ; PI = 12 ;USCS = MH
. +8% Lime: LL = 51 ; PI = 8 ;USCS = MH
I2. Based on the above data, the results from oar proctor test & our experience, a 6% or approximately 39.5 lbs. per square
yard per 8" depth is considered suitable to reduce the subgrade soils to 12% or less as required by the N.C.T.C.O.G.4.6.1
3. The above meets the minimum of 6% lime as required by the City of Coppell.
