We budgeted $75,000 this year in my budget to dredge the Chaucer Estates pond that is beside the
Library. There have been discussions with the HOA for years concerning silt that got into the pond
from city projects and other development upstream. We bid the dredging and the low bidder was right
at $75,000. After several discussions with the HOA, they would like us to provide the $75,000 to them
in lieu of the actual dredging. We are ok with this because it keeps us from any responsibly for
anything that may get damaged during the project.
Because this is budget money, I need to obligate it this budget year, at the 9/23 Council meeting. To
accomplish this, I need some type of agreement that lets us provide money to the HOA in lieu of the
work and absolves the city from any future responsibility for silt in the pond.
