In one other situation like this, I required the complete study and review. If there is no impact on
upstream or downstream property, then I let Building Inspections know that a wrought iron or similar
type fence can be installed. The study is not sent to FEMA. I kept the study in our files so I can
produce it when FEMA performs their Community Assistance Visit (CAV) for the city.

Thanks for getting back to me and allowing me to send this email. I have agreed to help Luigi (the guy with the
fence in the floodplain) understand what will be required to get a permit for his fence. We may not actually do
the work, but I told him I would help him understand it.
I guess my main question is what type of submittal you would need to be comfortable with his fence. Would you
just need a letter from an engineer, or would you need a flood study with hydraulic modeling as a back up? If I
can understand the level of effort, I can help Luigi with the approximate cost to get this done. Also, if there is
reference to this on a web site, I could check that out.
