I believe that elected officials have a responsibility to vote as their constituents would if they were the elected
representative. Granted, those in Washington do not set a very good example for you as they often do what is
on their personal agenda but local representatives such as yourself are too close to their constituents to not
vote as they are asked!
Not even considering my personal beliefs as to the effectiveness of charter schools, I do not believe that Manara
Academy should be located in Coppell as it puts an undue burden on the city (and thus my pocketbook) for a
majority of students who do not even live in Coppell. My children do not attend Coppell schools but my family
purchased a home in Coppell largely due to it’s quality educational system and excellent quality of life. Manara
Academy does not enhance the city’s educational system. Neither does Manara Academy add to the quality of
life for the city’s residents.
There are many other reasons (traffic, safety, site size, etc) that speak to the inadequacy of the location of
Manara Academy. Even if the city council chooses to ignore these issues, should not the city council listen to
their constituents and vote as they request?
