Gary, Ken and I met with representatives from Manara Friday morning. Attached is a Power Point prepared by Manara with an
update on their operations and future plans.
They are hoping to extend their SUP for another 4 years which reflects their charter. There have not been any traffic issues, and the
TIA reflected full capacity, therefore a new TIA will not be required.
They hosted a meet and greet on 10/8/09, three residents and the Mayor attended. There has been some discussion with the
neighborhood about relocating the dumpster, and the neighborhood offered to pay for its relocation.
We also discussed the over 60 C-2 complaints (see attached report prepared by Diana Bonnett) .. they are more than willing to
respond, if the complaint warrants it.
At this point, it is our understanding that they will be submitting after the 1st of the year... to be considered by council in March.

children crossing Sandy Lake to attend Austin Elementary eight". There has been conversation in the past about school

locations fall under the section of the ordinance that deals with
school zones on a street away from school property. If the
crossing of the street is controlled by a signal light or a stop sign,
then the school zone is not installed. There has been requests in
the past for a school zone on Parkway at Heartz, however, it
doesn't meet requirements. At Moore and Sandy Lake and at
Denton Tap and Town Center, the crosswalks are controlled by a
ped button that lets kids safely cross the street. The ped lights at
both locations have been retrofitted with count down peds that
show the amount of time remaining to cross.

I asked the
and Markingsschool principle to describe the types of problems she has
noticed. She stated "There have been two incidents when cars
were traveling the wrong way. One was our own custodian who
was promptly redirected and the other was the Waste
Management dump truck that happened to come right before
dismissal time. They have been called and told the arrival and
dismissal times so it does not happen again. Other than that there
have been no incidents."
It would be helpful in the future if you could provide more detail
on the actual violation you observe, along with the time of the
violation. This would assist me in dealing with the school to
correct any problems.

8/24/2009LIYS-908917Linda MaysOtherCode EnforcementManara AcademyCars drove counter to traffic management plan in the parking I was onsite this morning from 7:15 am until 8:10 am. I
observed
lot during school drop-off.most of the drop offs via car and bus. I observed one person pull
into the bus drop off. However, staff quickly directed her to the
correct location. I also observed one person park and go to the
front and check on where she should drop off her child. I did not
observe any confused drivers or any one onsite driving counter to
the traffic management plan. There were 10 staff members in the
field and the site was well marked with cones. The approach to
the drop offs seemed to be well thought out and adequately
manned with staff.
