RE: Grapevine III Sanitary Sewer (SS 94-02A)
Dear Mr. Ezzell:
A few months ago the City of Coppell brought to your attention that a section of the Grapevine
III sanitary sewer line designed by HDR Engineering, Inc. would not work. The sewer line in
question is located on the south side of the railroad track parallel to the railroad track. This
section has been referred to as "Sheet 5A". The City asked HDR to evaluate rerouting this
section of the sewer line to the west and connecting it to the new sewer line located on the east
side of Denton Tap Road. HDR reviewed this option and later provided to the City a plan and
profile sheet showing that this could be done.
During construction, the contractor determined that the information shown on the plans was
incorrect and that the proposed connection would not work. A second plan was then submitted
and it also would not work.
As of this date, the City has not received any revised plans to show how the proposed
connection can be made. You may recall that based on your sealed design the City made
commitments to reroute the sewer line to obtain a necessary easement. Please provide the
revised plans as soon as possible.
