Freeport Bridge Options
Keith,
We have looked at the bridge options and have the following costs:
6-Lane Bridge Only (No sidewalks or trail) = $1.33M
6-Lane Bridge with ability to add trail at a later date = $1.40M
6-Lane Bridge with Trail included (Ultimate Bridge Section) = $1.47M
The rough cost for just a pedestrian bridge for the trail not adjacent to Freeport is approximately $200k. We have
looked at the layout of the bridge, and we think that we can build the full bridge section with the trail portion
cantilevered out over the existing creek with minimal additional environmental impact. Constructing the entire
bridge section at this time would be easier, have less environmental impact, and would be cheaper from a total
cost standpoint, since it will definitely cost more than $70k to add the trail to the bridge in the future.
We have also been evaluating the reverse crown section and believe that it will be feasible. We are trying to get
our preliminary H&H work complete on the bridge so that we can get a good profile. Once we have that complete,
we should be able to get our profile worked out to get right-of-way and easements ready for you. Also, we have
been evaluating the drainage impacts on the cemetery site. Our landscape department is actually working on the
Wagon Wheel park project and we have coordinated the drainage from that site. With all of this, we should have
quite a few issues resolved in the next week or so.
Let me know what you want to do about the bridge, and we will get a good layout & profile ready to show you
before we prepare ROW documents. Thanks and have a great day!
