ADDITIONAL DATA REQUIRED TO SUPPORT A REVISION TO THE
FLOOD INSURANCE STUDY AND NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM MAP
,JAN 3 ]991
Requestor: Mr. John C. Karlsruher, P.E., Ginn, Inc. Date:
The issues listed below must be addressed in order to process this revision
request:
1. As stated in the March 4, 1988 conditional Letter of Map Revision
issued for this case, Subparagraph 60.3(b)(7) of the National
Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) regulations (copy enclosed)
requires that the City of Coppell assure that the channel modifi-
cations associated with the Denton Tap Road bridge replacement be
maintained. Without proper maintenance, such as the regular
clearing o£~a hhannelized stream, channel modification projects
will, in time, fail to function as designed, thereby recreating
the flood hazard that they were intended to mitigate. Please
submit assurance that the community will uphold its responsibility
to maintain the modified channel in order to preserve its design
function. Please be aware that the Federal Emergency Management
Agency may request that your community submit a description and
schedule of the channel maintenance activities.
2. Please submit community endorsement of this revision request from
the City of Coppell in accordance with Paragraph 65.4(b) of the
NFIP regulations (copy enclosed).
3. Please submit "as-built" certification by a registered Profes-
sional Engineer of the bridge plans entitled Denton Tap Road
Improvements, Grapevine Creek, Bridge Layout, dated October 1987,
prepared by Ginn, Inc.
