ADDENDUM NO. 1
February 10, 1997
The plans and specifications for construction of the Dallas Water Supply Line No. 3, Section 3A( 1 ), for the City
of Irving, Texas, for which bids are to be received until 10:00 a.m., February 14, 1997, are hereby modified as
follows:
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
1. INSTRUCTIQNS TO BIDDERS AND PROPOSAL AND BIDD SCHEDULE: Please refer to page IB-2,
Item 13. Time Allowed for Construction. and page BP-6, Bid Schedule. and change the maximum total time
allowed for construction of the entire project from 120 calendar days to 140 calendar days.
2. GENERAL PROVISIONS AND REOUIREMENTS: Section G.5. - Control of the Work and Materials;
Subsection G.5.16. Samples and Tests of Materials, pg. G-12. Add the following :"The City of Irving will
pay for the initial tests required for compaction of embedment and concrete strength for pavement; however,
the Contractor shall be responsible for payment of any subsequent tests required due to failure to pass initial
tests and shall be solely responsible for all costs related to testing the proposed water line and all related
appurtenances."
3. SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Section SC.24 TREE PROTECTION, pg. SC-4. Add the following:
"Contractor shall follow the guidelines in the City of Dallas Tree Ordinance for trees removed and replaced
or trimmed for construction in McKinnish Park." The City of Dallas Tree Ordinance will be provided by
mail.
4. DIVISION 01 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Section 01005 - Approved Products Listing - Water and
Sewer Systems City of Irving, Texas; Product Water Pipe > 12", pg. 01005-1: Delete the appropriate note
under "Modifications Required" and substitute the following: "Pipe shall be designed for an operating
pressure of 200 psi along with external loads as specified in AWWA C 301-92 standards including a design
allowance of at least 20% for testing (240 psi) and 40% for transient pressures (280 psi)."

SHEET NO. S1
· Add the following to the Structural Notes on the bottom left side of the sheet:
"11. All structural steel construction shall be provided in accordance with Item 441 "Steel Structures,"
and Item 442 "Metal for Structures," of the 1995 Standard Specifications for Construction and
Maintenance of Highways. Streets and Bridges. as adopted by the Texas Department of Transportation.
12. Additional bolted field splices will be allowed at locations other than the centerline of bent and
centerline of span. Contractor shall submit detailed shop drawings indicating the location of proposed
additional splices."
SHEET NO. S2
· Contractor shall add the following note to the "Cross Bracing Connection" detail on the bottom of the sheet.
"The cross bracing may be welded to either the gusset plates as shown or to the flanges. Contractor shall
submit detailed shop drawings indicating the location of proposed welds."

SHEET NO.S2
· Refer to the Notes on the right side of the sheet and delete Note 1 and substitute the following: "1. Structural Steel - ASTM A572, Grade 50. (Painted)"
· Refer to the Notes on the right side of the sheet and add the following to Note 5:
"Grating shall have a non-slip surface and shall be designed for a live load of 100 psf. Hold down clips
will be required. Contractor shall submit shop drawings for review."
SHEET NO, $5
· Contractor shall add the following notes to the "Steel Handrail" detail on the right side of the sheet.
"A welded connection may be substituted for the bolted connection. Contractor shall submit shop
drawings indicating proposed method of connection for review."
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Bidders shall acknowledge receipt of this Addendum No. 1 in the space provided in the Proposal and Bid
Schedule and on the outer envelope of their bid.
