Engineering Department
Traffic Switch Scheduled for Southwestern Blvd. Construction Project
The contractor will switch traffic to the newly constructed pavement on Wednesday or Thursday of
next week (March 17 or 18). During the transition, the driveways on the north side of the road will
be taken out and graded down to meet the level of the new road. Access to and from properties on
the north side of Southwestern may be limited or unavailable during certain daytime hours during
the transition of the traffic switch. The contractor will make every effort to ensure that the work is
done in the shortest time possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
The Southwestern Boulevard reconstruction project (from S. Coppell Rd. to Denton Tap) began in
August 2009. The project includes replacing the existing 24 -ft. wide asphalt street with a 41 -ft.
wide concrete street with improved drainage. In addition, new water and sewer lines are being
installed and a sidewalk will be built on the north side. The bridge over Grapevine Creek will also
be reconstructed as part of the project. Two -way traffic is being maintained for the duration of the
project which is expected to last through summer of 2010.
If you have any questions, please call Rick O'Dell at 469 - 576 -7709 or the Engineering Dept. at
