Mr. Gothman,
Thank you for contacting the City of Coppell with your concerns.
The city is working on plans to improve Sandy Lake Road from Denton Tap to North Coppell Road. Our
intention is to replace the current 2-lane asphalt road with a 4-lane concrete street with curb, improved
drainage, a median, and sidewalks. The improvements will also include an 8 foot wide hike & bike trail on
the south side of the road. We are currently working on acquiring right of way for this expansion. Once
the right of way is acquired we will begin utility relocations to accommodate the wider road. We anticipate
construction of the road improvements to begin in January 2011.
I am happy to discuss this with you. Please feel free to call me at 972-304-3681.

Gentlemen,
I would like to propose that the city strongly consider developing a sidewalk on at least one side of Sandy
Lake/North Coppell Roads between Denton Tap Road and Branchwood Trail. This is a main artery across
town and the road is too narrow to safely ride a bike (or walk).
A number of times over the years we've lived in Coppell I've found this a large concern when out biking in
that area. However, it has become a more relevant concern for our family now that the NTA Tae Kwon Do
school currently located at Everybody Fits is moving over to a new facility on the far west side of Sandy
Lake. I have four sons that are TKD instructors for NTA that I'd like to have ride their bikes to work, but
this road concerns me and there is not another route that is practical to get there.
While this is a matter that more directly affects my family in the future, I believe that this would be a
significant improvement for the overall Coppell community.

I would appreciate a response as to whether this has been given consideration by the city and/or if there is
another department that I should be directing this to.
Thank you!
