RE: Vista Ridge
Steve, as per your request for a construction cost estimate to extend
16" water to Vista Ridge. This project would consist of extending
two 16" dip water mains. One would extend to along MacArthur Blvd.
from Parkway Blvd. approximately 7000' linear feet with two borings,
one lowering at box culvert connection of lakes and one crossing
of Denton Creek.
The second extension is along Denton Tap Rd. from Parkway Blvd.
approximately 3500' linear feet with two creek crossings, one for
Cottonwood Creek and one for Denton Creek.
On the subject of creek crossings, there are three options:
1) Aerial @ approximately $50,000.00 each
2) Lowering @ $35,000.00 each
3) Mounting to bridge @ $15,000.00 each
I have contacted Dallas County, Denton County, Collin County, Texas
Highway Dept., Carrollton, and Plano. In all cases the procedure
of mounting the main to bridge is acceptable and there is no
regulation to prohibit us from doing this.
The construction cost estimate totals are reflective of the three
creek crossings being mounted onto the bridge. I am also attaching
my unit price calculations which will show the cost of the other
crossing options.
In conclusion, the 16" dip water ~main extension along MacArthur
should cost approximately $425,500.00 + 15% contingency ($16,305.00),
if you desire. To extend 16" water main along Denton Tap, it should
cost approximately $268,000.00 + 15% contingency ($40,200.00), if
you desire. To extend 12" dip from Magnolia is $18,000.00.
Total project cost of $635,000.00, with a 15% contingency is
$730,250.00. My figures reflect unit prices bid in Coppell to date
of May '88.
