Project Overview
► Develop, design and reconstruct nearly $1 billion of
improvements to SH 114/SH 121
► The eight mile project will improve mobility and air quality
through expanded roadway capacity, toll managed lanes
and continuous frontage roads
P. Up to 14 main lanes
► Four SH 114 toll managed lanes
► New direct connections
P. Rebuild three interchanges at SH 26, SH 121, and
International Parkway
x ^„ucbr.
Project Overview (Cont)
► Using a design -build method, construction will be
completed in approximately five years, less than half
the time usually needed for traditional contracts of
this magnitude
► The state of Texas retains ownership and oversight of
the project
► Improvements completed: 2014
Design -Build Method
► This method accelerates project delivery to minimize
the overall impact on businesses and commuters
► Quality will not be compromised by the design -build
method even though the time frame of project
delivery will be shortened
► In comparison, it took seven projects and 10 years to
complete the 1- 30/35W Interchange in downtown

Did you know?
► The 2.6 million cubic yards of
material we will excavate is
enough to build a 10 -foot high by
10 -foot wide wall that would «"
stretch from Grapevine to Temple
► We will put down approximately
1.4 million square yards of ; ti
concrete paving — enough to r
pave two, 12 -foot lanes from
Grapevine to Waco
► It will take approximately 4 million man hours to complete the
DFW Connector Project. That's enough time to put 100
full -time employees to work for 20 years
