Kody,
The following is meant to provide clarification for the proposal to replace the existing T411 rail on the south side of
the bridge.
1. The cost of the new rail is more than the original due to several reasons. The original bid was reduced
from its actual price and placed in mobilization. The cost for demolition is approximately 25% of the total.
At this time, there is no work platform in place which causes more labor and equipment to build the new
rail.
2. There are too many risks involved in the proposed partial replacement. We believe our people might not
be successful in removing the top portion of the rail while leaving the rebar in place without damaging the
portion left in place. Also if the rail failed to perform as intended we are concerned we would be held
accountable.
3. Our schedule for pouring the phase 2 portion of the rail is: The second week in May.
