Alexander Ct-CS080103 (3)DATE: January 3, 2008 TO: To Whom It May Concern RE: Alexander Court Addition On January 3, 2008 while on vacation I came back to the City to attend a Development Review Committee meeting concerning the final plat for Alexander Court. I attended this meeting to attempt to protect any of my other staff members from becoming involved in an ongoing lawsuit. During the course of the meeting, Mr. John Hawkins and I disagreed on what the correct floodplain line currently is for this property. We also disagreed on the facts of whether or not an existing sanitary sewer easement should be shown across various lots on the north side of the subdivision. Mr. Hawkins had previously submitted documents which he had filed at the County (unbeknownst to the city) that abandoned the sanitary sewer easement. It's our attorneys' opinion that only the city can approve abandonment of its own easements. During the course of discussing the DRC comments made by staff, at one point after repeatedly trying to convince Mr. Hawkins that the floodplain as shown on his final plat was incorrect, Mr. Hawkins threw his glasses off onto the table, stared directly at me and said, "I'm going to put an end to this." At that point I felt threatened. I then called our Police Department and asked for an officer to respond in case Mr. Hawkins tried to follow through with any type of physical threat. Once the officers arrived, I gathered my papers and left the meeting, returning back to my office. Mr. Hawkins finished the meeting shortly thereafter and left the building.
