Sorry for the delayed response. I was out of the office Thursday and Friday.
Our structural engineer has re-reviewed the soils report from Terra Mar and re-confirmed that the underlying
hard material is shale. Shale is not considered a hard rock immune from erosion; it is friable. It is still our
recommendation that the toe wall be embedded as shown on the details and that the request to shorten the
depth is not approved.

Have you seem the bottom of this creek? It is solid rock so freaking hard we can hardly cut it. I don thnk
you have Amy erosion to worry about. The entire creek bottom is solid rock.

Request to use Class A instead of B for RipRap- APPROVED

1.Note that Classes B and both C mix designs were not reviewed and
will not be used in this project. Class C for Drilled Shafts was Mix #
1851 with a 28-day strength of 3600 psi and Class S was the identical
mix (#1851) with 4000 psi as its 28-day strength. We can’t approve
the same mix for different strengths so we are approving Class S as
noted above.
