MA1001-CS100318 (6/29/2010) George Marshall - RE: Denton Tap & Sandy LakePage 1 From: "Don Bruner" <dbruner@bomanitent.com> To: "'George Marshall'" <gmarshall@coppelltx.gov> Date: 3/18/2010 10:29 AM Subject: RE: Denton Tap & Sandy Lake We have not been contacted by anyone else at the city. If the entire center section is performed at one time then 2-3 weeks would be sufficient to complete the work. On the design side you might consider the following for the inner circle with the star. Pour the entire inner circle using integral color (Red Clay), groove the outline of the star and then use a gray color hardener to color the field area (standard concrete portion) of this area. This would allow one operation to complete this area instead of two separate pours. The field area of the star would have the integral color (Red Clay) but the surface would be colored gray. The only other design change that would speed up the process would be to change the 10' ring of Gunmetal Gray to the Red Clay integral color. We actually have 3 different traffic control phasing options we need to consider. Option 1 would allow the entire center detail to be done in one step. We are still working out the pavement specifications but at a minimum the thickness would be 8" with #3 bars on 18" oc/ew. We are also looking to perform the entire intersection work in 2-3 weeks maximum and therefore seriously considering high early strength concrete. Please note that we are looking for some design input from you on the center detail. What can we change to help in cost and time frame. If the entire center detail can be accomplished in one phase that would be ideal. We would still need 3 or 4 separate pours to install in order to form each portion and separate the different colors. Breaking up the center detail into multiple phases would drive the pricing up and extend the time required to form each phase and complete the pouring of the different colors. In order to price the installation I will need to know pavement thickness (6/29/2010) George Marshall - RE: Denton Tap & Sandy LakePage 2 and reinforcing requirements.
