Brick Paver Replacement
Denton Tap/Sandy Lake Intersection To Temporarily Close
The City of Coppell’s Engineering Department is preparing for reconstruction of the intersection
at Sandy Lake and Denton Tap Roads. This project will include the replacement of the brick pavers
within the intersection with concrete pavement. Anticipated start date is on or around June 7 and is
expected to last about 30 days.
In order to replace this intersection, access to Denton Tap from Sandy Lake Road will be closed
both eastbound and westbound during the construction period. The contractor will maintain one lane
northbound and one lane southbound on Denton Tap Road. Depending upon the weather, the
Engineering Department anticipates that this intersection can be reconstructed within 30 calendar days.
The contract will include an incentive/disincentive within the bid documents specifically related to the
time of the road closure. Once the closure begins the contractor will have 30 calendar days to re-establish
all lanes of traffic through the intersection. Drivers will soon see message boards and signage along
Denton Tap and Sandy Lake Roads informing the traveling public about the scheduled closure.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes during construction. Vehicles traveling
westbound on Sandy Lake seeking access to Denton Tap should use Heartz Road. Drivers should travel
north on Heartz Rd. to Parkway Blvd. and then west to Denton Tap, or south on Heartz Rd. to Bethel
School Rd. then west to Denton Tap.
