We will take the chance with speed issues without additional signs.
Trying not to sound harsh but no on splitting the cost on the Business signs. I am fairly confident that your sign
shop can do them a whole lot cheaper than we can.

Lee,
As far as the suggestive speed reduction I was referring to an Advisory Speed (plaque) (CW13-1) and not a sign
stating "Please Reduce Speed". The point being, the posted speed through the work zone is 40 MPH. This is
only a suggestion to you, you are responsible for the safety of your workers and the traffic through the work
zone. We are not requiring you to add these signs it is only a suggestion.
I will get back with you on the other signs. Though they are not explicitly shown in the plans, this type of sign is
typical in a road closure urban setting. What if we were to split the cost of the signs, you pay for the two on
Sandy Lake, due to the road closure and we pay for the two on Denton Tap?
Thank You, George

George,
During our meeting yesterday I understood that the “Business Remain Open” signs would be fabricated and
installed by the City. These are information signs and not part of traffic control. There is no mention in the
plans that this type of sign would be required. We can supply these signs as directed for a cost of $175 EA.
Also the consideration of suggestive speed reduction signs is also a informational sign. It would need to say
“Please Reduce Speed”. These signs also run $175 EA.
For these two information signs there are total of 8. So the price would run $1400. Let me know if you want
us to supply these signs.
Thanks

driveway to the Exxon-Mobil Convenience Store
3) Add Type III's, Road Closed, Do not Enter signs to east side of intersection on Sandy Lake just before the
driveway to the Frost Bank
4) At the south Road Work Ahead sign add a sign that states the following; "Businesses Remain Open"
5) At the north Road Work Ahead sign add a sign that states the following; "Businesses Remain Open"
6) Add traffic fines double to all legs of the intersection.
7) Consider suggestive speed reduction signs, we can not officially reduce the speed without going to council.

Sheet: DETOUR PLAN
1) At the Road closed, Local traffic only signs, both east and west, add a sign that states the following: "NO

2) Noticed on the west you have a detour/arrow sign below the road closed, local traffic only sign but there is
no sign below on the east
As discussed yesterday please add the signs on sheet 4 of the plans that read: "SANDY LAKE CLOSED AHEAD
DENTON TAP REDUCED TO ONE LANE" 1 at Bethel School Road and One at Andy Brown Park, also add the
"ROAD CLOSED AT DENTON TAP" at MacArthur and one at 121 on Sandy Lake.
On another note, please have your crews coordinate the traffic signal change with Per Birdsall at 972-304-5171
prior. He is aware and knows what will need to be done.
If you have any questions, please call me ASAP as this is getting down to the wire.

Don't let the 700 be an issue. If you get any push back from Traffic, tell Bowman to put the signs up and
we'll have Leslie do a change order to Bowman next week. We need the signs up before Monday.

Ken,
It looks like Bowman wants $175 per sign on the "Businesses Remain Open" signs. 4 signs for $700.
I will check with Per in the morning how much it might cost us to create these signs.
I was thinking that the wording is fairly generic so we could try to make the signs and reuse them on future
jobs, maybe include the logo.
Thank You, George
