Abcon Paving was the low bidder for the 1996 Pavement Replacement Program. The contact with Abcon
Paving included provisions for the City to extend the contract for a one -year period with a maximum number
of four extensions. The contract also provided a mechanism for the contractor to request a price
'et°rmination based upon direct cost increase, wage and labor rate increase, etc. Council approved an
increase for the 1997 Street Repair Program.
Because Abcon Paving was responsive and performed an excellent job for the City of Coppell in 1996, 1997,
1998 and 1999 and because they have requested no price increase for this year my recommendation is for the
City Council to extend Bid #Q- 0196 -01 in an amount not to exceed $100,000 for the 2000 Street Repair
Program.
Staff will be available for questions at the Council meeting.
