Andy,
Long radius is simply the term I used for standard fittings vs. The compact fittings you were proposing. It
has nothing to do with the angle.

Can you please explain these long radius bends? I am not aware of anything
other than standard 11.25, 22.5, 45 and 90 degree bends for pipe. I know in
electrical conduits they have what are called long radius bends (sweeps)
that make pulling the electrical wires easier, but I have never seen
anything with regards to a long radius water bend. The plans specifically
call out for 22 1/2 degree bends. If you would like something different,
please let me know.

Andy,
I have discussed these issues with our Asst. Director of Public Works. The
(8/16/2010) Keith Marvin - Re: Bethel Road - NTC SubmittalsPage 2
official city position is that we specify long radius bends of domestic
manufacture. That having been said, in the interest of time we will allow
you to use the readily available materials to expedite the project. We will
however require the long radius bends for those vertical bends where the 16"
water line dives down under the creek.
Feel free to call with any questions.

Per our conversation I am providing this email in response to Freese &
Nichols comments about our water and sewer submittals for Bethel Rd - Phase
2.
- As we discussed yesterday, you do not have a problem with NTC
using C153 fitting on the water line, but would prefer domestic as opposed
to imported. Per our suppliers inquiries, domestic fittings are not readily
available and would have a 2-3 week lead time. Due to the tight and quick
schedule for this water line, we do not have the time to wait for domestic
fittings to be produced. Please let me know if you are ok with imported
fittings.
- Resilient Wedge (RW) and Resilient Seated (RS) gate valves are
the same thing. The wording is all that is different between manufacturers.
- There are no water services attaching to our lines so we will not
be using service connections.
- EBAA iron megalugs made of class 65-45-12 iron exceeds NCTCOG
spec of 60-42-10.
- Per our discussion, you will allow NTC to use SDR-35 for the
sewer line (as called out on the plans) even though it is slightly deeper
than 15'.
Please let me know if all of this is acceptable and refer to the email at
the bottom of this page from my material supplier as backup.
Thanks

Due to the tightened economy, C153 Domestic fittings are currently built to
