GSWW, Inc. 11117 Shady Trail Dallas, Texas 75229 RE: Deforest Road, Project #ST 05 -01 Construction Plan Review Comments Dear Mr. DeGroot: The City of Coppell has reviewed the referenced plans and has the following comments to offer: Typical Paving Sections Sheets - 1. On Section 7 +50 to 18 +25 and 23 +25 to 29 +55.1, slope should start towards bottom of wall. Paving Plan and Profile - 2. Eliminate BFR at 2 +00, 16 +30, and 26 +75 south and both north and south at sta 31 +48, or provide insight as to why needed (school bus drop - off?). 3. Add Flow Arrows. 4. Label all water work on paving plans as well as removals sheet. Paving Plan MacArthur Blvd. Sheet - 5. Use detail 2140 for median nose. (stamped concrete) 6. Add striping throughout intersection not just new turn lane. Drainage Area Map and Computations - 7. Please show Windsor Estates on map as well as lot lines for B -18 and such. 8. Why are bends not shown in calculations? 9. Where are you adding Kj values? 10. H. G. elevations for Line A don't seem to match profile. Storm Sewer Plan and Profile Line A- 11. Specify during each phase what direction traffic will flow? Striping Plan - 18. Show MacArthur Striping. Standard Retaining Wall - 19. Need to add info on color and texture where applicable. Color & texture only where visible to public or property owners. Will want to pull out of bid as separate item if price too high. Pedestrian Rail - 20. Rail will need to be powder coated black or earth tone. Not plain galvanized. Paving and Driveway Cross Sections - 21. Show handrail where called for. Additional Notes: 1) Cover Sheet — a) Remove Mayor from sheet & shift Bob Mahalik to Mayor Pro -Tem. 2) Estimated Quantities — Not in this set. 3) General Notes — a) Water Department # 972 - 462 -5155 b) Streets Department # 972 - 462 -5150 c) Remove erosion control details & notes from plan. Due to paving cut, existing service might get cut. 3 b) Show where ex water meter at 10 +80 will be relocated outside sidewalk. (typ) c) Check profile location for end of retaining wall at "11 +07 ". d) Remove FH at 12 +20. 10) Paving Plan & Profile 13 +50 —18 +50 — a) Modify plan so we don't need the rear 10x10 ROW clip on 592 Lake Forest. (TYP, all sheets). b) Look into how water will flow off Deforest and onto Cambridge Manor Lane. c) Look into drainage on lots 820 & 822 Deforest. d) Show relocation of FH at 17 +90. 11) Paving Plan & Profile 18 +50 — 23 +50 — a) None 12) Paving Plan & Profile 23 +50 — 28 +50 — a) Look at drainage on 844 Deforest. If curb is higher than ROW how will front yard drain? b) What would it take to eliminate retaining wall on north side of road? c) Call for contractor to modify fence at 880 Brentwood to accommodate 10x10 ROW clip & to remove tree. 13) Paving Plan & Profile 28 +50 — 31 +56 a) Call out guardrail work on plan. b) Adjust FH & valve to grade c) Show fill slope to wall, use 4:1. d) Will need to extend sidewalk on east side of last north driveway. e) Show removal & replacement of at least 10 feet of pavement on Windsor estates. f) Can not install storm sewer inlet over the property line. Redesign this adjacent to the sidewalk. 14) MacArthur Blvd Paving plan a) All thermoplastic striping needs to be 3M Stamark High Performance Patterned Tape. b) Add plans to remove & replace BFR on west side of intersection. c) Show stamped concrete. 15) Waterline Plan a) Show to reset water meter outside sidewalk. b) Do you have a measure down to top of nut on waterline valves? c) Can not cut into ex line with new Tee due to disruption of water service. Would cause some residents to lose water. 16) Sanitary Sewer Plan & Profile a) Why does the profile have left top of curb and not the centerline of pipe? b) Waterline on Allen Road is shown to be a 10 ", modify all instances of this 8" note. c) Sewer seems shallow. Please look into signals previously designed by Lee for City. i.e. several Sandy Lake intersections. c) Fix page numbers. d) This project is in Dallas County, not Denton County. e) It seems to me that the designer has designed this signal like the ones along SH 121. Those are not City of Coppell Signals. They are TxDOT signals and maintained by the City of Lewisville. NOT COPPELL STANDARDS. f) Why go between Ft Worth TxDOT details and Dallas districs ? ?? g) SEE COMMENTS ON PLANS 58) Erosion Control Plan a) Scale too small b) Insufficient for use. 59) Suggested Construction Phasing a) It seems that with very little temp asphalt, we could maintain 2 -way traffic during Phase 3 Construction. 60) Traffic Routing Plan a) Put Note about maintaining eastbound traffic from MacArthur for emergency vehicles at all times. 61) Striping Plan a) See 3M Stamark note. b) Add signs necessary. This will be required by the contractor. For remainder of comments see plans. There may be additional comments throughout the plans that should be addressed. Please make the necessary changes and submit these marked -up plans and two sets of revised full size plans to the City for review.
