In addition to the detail I will try to answer your questions as best I can: 1. Pier/column diameter is 18" 2. We have not yet done the detailed design necessary to give you more exact information on pier height/depth, however I am attaching the geotechnical report for your use. Reviewing these documents, shale appears to be at or above the flowline of the creek, and the detail calls for 6' penetration into shale. 3. The intention of option one is to tie into the existing siphon box. This will require some work inside the existing box. I'm attaching pictures and plans of the original construction. The valves and piping will need to be removed, the interior baffle will need to be removed, the wall between the two sides of the box will need to be modified, and an invert will need to be formed in the bottom of the box to direct the flow to the new outlet location. 4. Ductile iron pipe will be sufficient for the exposed pipe. 5. Pier caps and strapping should conform to the attached detail. In addition to the installation of this new aerial crossing, please include a cost for removal of the abandoned 10" aerial crossing just north of this proposed installation. That pipe should be cut and plugged in the bank, and the piers and pipe should be removed and disposed of. (8/13/2010) Keith Marvin - RE: FW: Emailing: Bethel Road Budget NumbersPage 2 Feel free to contact me with any further questions. If you want to gain access to the siphon box to help you understand what is inside, please contact our water utilities folks at 972-462-5150, and someone will meet you out there. Once we have some budgetary numbers we will discuss it internally and decide which option, if any, we want to proceed with. Once we have made that decision we will finalize the design and give you an opportunity to review it again before we finalize a change order. Keith Marvin, P.E. We can estimate the pier caps and straps and should be able to finish the budget if given this information.
