Also, I contact Keith regarding the wall height.  Your plan shows a height of 498.14' and your street elevation at the driveway is 495.76'.  Why is the wall 2 foot taller?  Keith mentioned a rail on top of the wall.  Does this go above that wall elevation?  He said he will get with you to answer that question.  I will need an image of that rail for Mr. Berkebile's review. At this time we have not had a chance to discuss any of these items nor have I had a chance to run them by Phil so I am just talking conceptually when addressing these items. My current understanding of the retaining wall is as follows: • Retaining wall will have a guard rail on top that matches bridge. Details provided by you. The bridge has two heights of railings, I'm assuming 42" at this time, but need confirmation. Also, I don't how this height relates to the top of wall elevation. • Rail will not step, but will slope with street • Wall railing will end at the west side of the Berkebile driveway and is to have a Txdot std. curved guardrail at end to provide crash protection to end of wall. I've attached two 3d images that delineate my proposed concept and would like feedback as to feasiblity. I would like to see a column terminate the railing. And this will allow the stone veneer to terminate into something. Several years ago a project I work on in Austin had a column terminating at a bridge railing similar to this and a Txdot std. curved guard rail was required. After some negotiation, Txdot allowed a curved sloping wall similar to shown on exhibit in place of the curved guard rail. Can this be a consideration in this situation? This is the Berkebile's front door and a Txdot galvanized curved guard rail that caps off everyone's investment in trying to make the wall railing look nice can't be considered desirable. Please let me know your thoughts. Also, because of the stone type it's easier for him to install his own masonry ties. You will only need to confirm the wall structure to handle the material. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
