Keith,
Thanks for getting back to me related to the retaining wall and my safety concern. Given what you said about the
clear line of site from our driveway to the West being 90-95ft. (not considering the 12% slope of the driveway
approach) and what you said was the City’s own standard of 150ft. at intersections -- I am somewhat concerned
about safety entering into traffic going East onto Bethel. If possible, I would like to request that we try to get
together sometime next week at your office so that I can look at the design plan with you and discuss this issue
further.
On a related note, since you mentioned that you are looking into the costs to accommodate my neighbor’s
request for an alternative/modified section of retaining wall, I would like to make a similar but hopefully easier
request. I would appreciate getting a cost estimate from the City’s contractor to build the curved concrete retaining
wall extension between the West side of my driveway approach connecting to the retaining wall as suggested by
our landscape architect Harold Leidner (in place of the steel guardrail extension as is currently planned). This is
purely an aesthetic issue for us but one we would like to strongly consider. Please let me know if this can be
done.
Thanks again.

Keith,
Just checking back on my fourth bullet point below: As I stated before, I am concerned that the retaining wall and
guard rail on Bethel Road to the West of our drive approach (coupled with the 12 degree incline from our driveway
to the street) might be a significant safety issue specifically related to our visibility to eastbound traffic. If you
would please get back to me with your comments on this issue it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Keith,
We just got back in town having being gone for about 2 ½ weeks so I wanted to check on the status of the

retaining wall in front of our property on Bethel.
Have there been any new developments?
What is the design plan for the wall as it stands today?
What is the current status of its construction?
Also while away I thought of a potential issue for us. Will this wall block our view of East bound traffic in
Bethel as we exit our driveway onto Bethel? Have the sightlines for our driveway exit been considered in
the design?
Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
