Jennifer,
This report refers you to NCTCOG standard specifications item 4.6 which discusses lime treatment. This is a two step
process in that document as well.
As discussed, you may wish to pursue a valiance to the lime stabilization. We typically will waive the requirement if the
engineer of record requests it, and provides an extra inch of concrete thickness.

I apologize. I did not understand your question. Attached is the original
geotechnical report. In Section 7.3 on page 12 of the report, the Geotech
recommends that the pavement subgrade be stabilized with a minimum lime
content of 8 percent by dry weight (36 pounds per square yard per 6-inch
depth. This percentage is higher than that recommended in the Standard
Construction Details.
Thank you,
Jennifer

Jennifer,
When we talked on the phone some time ago I was under the impression that you
wanted to use a reduced amount of lime. Are you now indicating that you will
use 6% lime and only mix one time?
I could read the addendum just fine, but it states "Lime treatment should be
performed in accordance with Section 7.3 of our geotechnical report." I
don't know what section 7.3 says.

Mr. Marvin,
You are correct. The first page is a formal letter for record keeping
purposes. I went ahead and attached the addendum from the geotechnical
engineer separately for your reference.
We are proposing the use of a 6-inch thick lime stabilized subgrade rather
than the two-mix process ("Subgrade under all pavement shall be initially
mixed 8" thick and re-mixed 6" thick and shall be stabilized with 6% minimum
by weight of hydrated lime...") identified in the City's Standard
Construction Details.
Please let me know if the pdf is not transmitting correctly. I can always
send a hardcopy.
Thank you,
Jennifer

Jennifer,
I don't see what you are proposing to do. There is a reference to a report,
but I don't have the report.
Please include in your letter what the actual request is. This request then
must be signed and sealed by the engineer of record on the project.

Mr. Marvin,
I am forwarding to you the requested geotechnical letter we discussed over
(9/7/2010) Keith Marvin - RE: DCCCD-NLC: Lime StabilizationPage 3
the phone October 1, 2007. The letter indicates a subgrade design for the
Dallas County Community College District - North Lake, North Campus project
that is different than the one stated in the City of Coppell's Standard
Construction Details.
Please review this letter and geotechnical addendum and let us know if the
modified subgrade design of 5-inches of Portland Cement Concrete placed on
6-inches of lime treated subgrade is acceptable to the City.
I appreciate your help in this process and look forward to working with you
to answer any questions. I may be reached at 214.424.7505.
Thank you,
Jennifer
