Payton – I think it would be good to ride out this storm and see how the test section performs during a
significant rain event (in that respect, the timing worked out well). Will plan on being there at 11:00 am Monday
it that works for you.
Keith – does that work for you too? I know you mentioned you wanted to be there.

Payton – we have reviewed the rock submittals and respond as follows:
4” x 8” gabion rock: Approved
Laboratory testing for specific gravity, absorption, sulfate soundness, LA abrasion: Approved
12” x 18” riprap (for channel): Approved as noted. The rock gradation is still smaller than specified; however
we understand that the specified gradation is in between the 12” x 18” and 18” x 24” and may not be readily
available. We recommend delivery of enough 12” x 18” rock to install the test section. Upon inspection,
depending on the actual gradation of the field sample, we may choose to: 1.) stay with the 12” x 18” for the
remainder of the channel lining; or 2.) supplement it with the larger 18” x 24” rock (possibly 1 truckload 18” x
24” for every 1 to 2 truckloads of the 12” x 18”).
