TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Alan D. Ratliff, City Manager
SUBJECT: Beltline East/West Realignment
RE: Meeting August 19th - 9:00 am
In accordance with City Council direction, I attended the referenced
August 19th meeting. I also received a call from Council Cowman, prior
to the meeting, advising me the purpose of this meeting was to reaffirm
the City Council's support of possible realignment of this road. Mr.
Cowman stated that Texas Power and Light was apparently unwilling to
realign the road as had been proposed by Mr. Tim House.
Representatives of Texas Power and Light, the City Engineer, Mr.
Billingsly, Tim House and myself met to discuss and review this project.
The representatives of Texas Power and Light stated that they do not
wish to have any development closer to their plant than currently
exists. They were concerned about possible complaints arising from
adjoining property owners. Mr. House proposed a modified realignment of
Beltline which would reduce the amount of land that would be required
from the Texas Power and Light property. The Texas Power and Light
representatives indicated they would take this proposal under
consideration, if the proposed realignment was possible after review by
the City Engineer. As you recall, the City Engineer is performing this
analysis at the cost of the developer, and we have asked him to proceed
with this study under this proviso. The meeting was then adjourned.
