Re: Sandy Lake at MacArthur Intersection Design Meeting
Dear Shohre:
The following outline is a summary of our meeting held on October 23, the first meeting for the
Sandy Lake Road and MacArthur ~oulevard intersection design:
A) Design Survey
I. Kimley-horn has completed 90 percent of the design surve_v required
for this project. The remaining survey will consist of vertical
information necessary for utility relocation.
B) Paving
1. A working drawing showing the existing paving, driveways, and alleys
was completed from the design survey.
2. The ultimate section for Sandy Lake Road, a six-lane divided
thoroughfare, will be constructed with left turn lanes. The
improvements for Sandy Lake Road """win extend approxi~-,~atel3~ -,t,~A~ to
600 feet each side of MacArthur Boulevard.
3. The initial profile for Sandy Lake Road will lower the grade to
accommodate MacArthur Boulevard to the south.
C) Utilities
1. At this time the extent of utility relocation is unknown. If the grade
on Sandy Lake Road is lowered more than two to three feet, utilities
such as gas, cable television, and telephone may have to be lowered to
maintain a minimum cover.
2. City utilities such as water and sanitary sewer should be low' enough
to accommodate the new paving location.
3. All power and telephone poles will have to be relocated to an area of
two to three feet inside the street right-of-way.
4. The storm drainage system will all be underground, within the paving
section, and discharge into the drainageway along the south side of
Sandy Lake Road.

Lake is 115 feet, with a transition to 100 feet as you go south.
MacArthur Boulevard north of Sandy Lake is 110 feet, with a _,4~;-"
transition to 100 feet prior to Village Parkway.
2. Sandy Lake Road is a minimum of a 100-foot right-of-way within the
proposed improvement area. The dedication from Lakeside Village
makes it a 105-foot right-of-way from MacArthur Boulevard west to
the end of the Lakeside Village tract.
E) Schedule /r , 1. Kimley-Horn will provide a preliminarl/plan and profile for Sandy
Lake Road prior to the October Mst DRC meeting.
