ST8806-CS 900618 GINN, INC. C()NSIII,TING I£NGINI, !! I S June 18, 1990 Mr. Steve Goram city of Coppell P.O. Box 478 Coppell, TX 75019 Re: Parkway Boulevard Improvements from Alex Drive to Heartz Road - Change Orders No. 1 and No. 2 Dear Mr. Goram: We are enclosing six copies of Change Orders No. 1 and No. 2 for the subject project. Change Order No. 1 contains two items which are necessary to complete the project and one which deletes some unnecessary items. Change Order No. 2 involves the repair of the existing curbs on the eastbound side of the street which were damaged by earth moving operations of the last several years. Change Order No. 1 increases the scope of work as follows: 1. The addition of a 4" PVC sleeve bored from the north parkway to the median near the east end of the project to provide a means for bringing water and power to the median for the new irrigation system. This sleeve was supposed to have been installed by the developer when the initial road construction was done. It was apparently not installed previously and it is necessary for the i~nstallation and operation of the median irrigation system. As per the~ attached proposal from the Contractor, this item is estimated to cost approximately $515.00. 2. The addition of an Irritrol MC+ 12 station controller for operation and control of the new median irrigation system. The plans called for the addition of a module to an existing Weathermatic SSMA Controller. This controller is no longer manufactured and the module required is not readily available. In order to allow the system to function properly and maintain a spare parts inventory, the Irritrol Controller was selected for this system. This is the same controller being used on Den%on Tap Road. As Der the attached proposal from the contractor, this item will increase the estimated contract amount by $725.00. In the interest of saving money on the project, we propose to eliminate all pavement markings except the jiggle bars for the left turn lanes. Currently there are Ilo traffic buttons or stripes on the other divided sections of this road nearby. The estimated cost savings for this item is $1,737.60. The total decrease in the estimated contract amount for Change Order No. 1 is $497.60. 17103 Prcston Road · Suitc 100 · I,IIII8 · l.)allas, Tcxas752,18 · Phone214/248-4900 Change Order No. 2 covers the work of removing and replacing the curbs and possibly the pavement which was damaged by previous earth moving operations across the pre-existing road section by others. As per the May 31, 1990 letter from Centerline Constructors, Inc. to Ginn, Inc., it appears that the estimated total increase in the estimated contract amount for this item could be $3,450.00 for the curb removal and replacement or a total of $5,192.00 if the pavement removal' and replacement is opted for. Our measurements on site vary from the Contractor's and our rough estimate of the cost of these items at the Contractor's proposed unit prices is as follows: 1. Remove and replace curb and gutter 75 LF x $50.00/LF = $3,750.00 2. Barricades for Traffic Control = 450.00 Sub Total $4,200.00 3. Remove and replace concrete street pavement 42 SY x $67.00/SY = $2,814.00 Grand Total This Item $7,014.00 It is possible that there might be less pavement in need of replacement than we have estimated which would lower the cost of the proposed Change Order somewhat. If either or both of these Change Orders is acceptable to you and you wish to proceed with the work, please have the item or items placed on the next available city Council Agenda. Call me if you have questions. Sincerely, John C. Karlsruher, P.E. Senior Engineer JCK/dsp enclosures cc: H. Wayne Ginn, P.E. File 89412
