Re: Parkway Boulevard Improvements from Alex Drive to Heartz Rd.
Dear Mr. Goram:
As per your request of 5/30/90, we have asked the Contractor to
submit unit prices for a possible replacement of damaged curbs,
gutters, and pavement on the east bound side of Parkway Boulevard
in the areas where the hauling of earth fill materials across
Parkway Boulevard previously took place. Their response is
attached for your consideration.
Pursuant to our 5/30/90 meeting and discussion of this matter we
have also prepared a financial synopsis of the project to date
for a budget comparison. The approximate costs to date are as
follows:
1. Construction Contract through 5/31/90 $88,479.17
(78% complete)
2. Engineering, Inspection and Testing
through 5/31/90 29,130.57 *
3. Field Change No. 1 3,644.00
Total to Date $121,253.74 *
Our final cost projection is based on an additional 20 hours of
my time and 30 hours of inspection time plus 22% of the work
remaining to be completed. Our final estimated cost projection
is $143,980.77 not including the proposed Change Order No. 2.
Comparing this to the budget amount of $128,700.00 that you gave
me on 5/30/90 will cause a deficit of approximately $15,280.77.
1. Estimated Final Construction Cost = $108,711.80
2. Engineering, Inspection and Testing = 31,930.57 *
3. Field Change No. 1 = 3,644.00
4. Change Order No. 1 = (305.60) *
ESTIMATED TOTAL PROJECT COST $143,980.77 *
CURRENT BUDGET $128,700.00
NET BUDGET DEFICIT $ 15,280.77 *

Field Change No. 1 was necessary for the installation of storm
sewer laterals which were supposed to have been installed when
the developer built the initial portion of Parkway Boulevard. It
has been discovered during construction that the laterals had not
been installed as indicated on the plans. Therefore, in order to
construct the project as intended, the laterals had to be
installed by the Contractor at our direction for work to proceed.
We recommend that the project budget be increased to allow for
the additional costs mentioned above. If you have any questions
please call me.
Sincerely,
John C. Karlsruher, P.E.
