Regards Luis ------Original Message------ From: Keith Marvin To: lpajares3@gmail.com Cc: John Elias Cc: Ken Griffin Subject: Re: retaining wall Sent: Aug 12, 2010 5:17 PM Mr. Pajares, I went out and looked at the progress of the retaining wall today. The excavation they are doing now is for the footing of the wall. The face of the wall will be approximately 2 feet away from the column at the end of your wall, which sticks out about a foot. This will place the wall approximately 3 feet away from the face of your wall. As far as trees go, we are doing our best to build this project without undue damage. We have even agreed to preserve 2 trees that are within the city right of way adjacent to your property that were shown to be removed as part of the project. We did not however say that we would not come near them. There just is not enough room in there to stay far enough away from the trees to avoid the root systems. We will get the wall built as quickly as possible, and backfill around it so we can minimize the damage. In the mean time, I will have our city arborist visit the site and evaluate the trees. We can discuss the issue further after I have visited the site with the arborist. Keith Keith Marvin, P.E. Project Engineer (972) 304-3681 >>> luis pajares <lpajares3@gmail.com> 8/11/2010 8:31 PM >>> Keith I took a look at the retaining wall progress today. it appears the path of the retaining wall is right on the property line and will end up butting up against my existing wall unless it starts to jet out. I thought it was going to be approx 4 feet south of my wall. can you please confirm? also, i noticed they have taken down many more trees. we need to keep an eye on the trees we agreed you would not come near. I need to understand what will happen if this trenching kills any of my trees on my property. how does compensation from the City work? some of (1/12/2011) Keith Marvin - Re: retaining wallPage 2 those trees would be irreplaceable. Please advise. thanks Luis Luis
